چکیده

Multiparty conferencing is becoming an important topic in the next generation networks. An essential part of multiparty conferencing is the signaling protocol, which has to establish, modify, update and terminate conferencing sessions. This paper focuses on signaling for closed centralized conferencing using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and proposes an approach that achieves an optimization of signaling traffic on the conference server. The presented approach also improves fault tolerance of centralized conferences by preventing the conference server from being a single point of failure. The results obtained with this optimization are also presented. Key-Words: multipoint conferencing, signaling, SIP, conference server, traffic optimization, fault tolerance

Consistency support for a decentralized management in close multiparty conferences using SIP

-Distributed multimedia applications such as conference and collaborative applications require an appropriate conference management. Close group conferences like meetings, discussions, teleseminars, or consultations need a strictly controlled group membership. Current conference systems achieve this by using a centralized group server as specified in the H.32x standards. Decentralized approache...

Detecting Denial of Service Message Flooding Attacks in SIP based Services

Increasing the popularity of SIP based services (VoIP, IPTV, IMS infrastructure) lead to concerns about its ‎security. The main signaling protocol of next generation networks and VoIP systems is Session Initiation Protocol ‎‎(SIP). Inherent vulnerabilities of SIP, misconfiguration of its related components and also its implementation ‎deficiencies cause some security concerns in SIP based infra...

RFC 5239 Centralized Conferencing Framework

This document defines the framework for Centralized Conferencing. The framework allows participants using various call signaling protocols, such as SIP, H.323, Jabber, Q.931 or ISDN User Part (ISUP), to exchange media in a centralized unicast conference. The Centralized Conferencing Framework defines logical entities and naming conventions. The framework also outlines a set of conferencing prot...

Dynamic Scalable Model for Video Conferencing (DSMVC) using Request Routing

The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an application-layer control protocol which is used to create, alter and cease multimedia sessions. These multimedia sessions include call and video conferences, Internet telephony and other such events. In general, SIP has centralized videoconference system, which faces the drawbacks of scalability and bandwidth. When there is a need to have a multimedi...
